The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Cystic Fibrosis is a congenital disease which causes mucosal secretions to be thicker than normal, leading to a variety of respiratory and digestive complications which are ultimately terminal. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was co-founded by Phyllis Kossoff, a Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority alumna, in 1955. At that time, the life expectancy for individuals with CF was 7 years. Today, that number has risen to almost 37 years, in great part to the research funded by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Since 1967, Delta Phi Epsilon has contributed more than $1 million to research dedicated to finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Over 70% of all donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation are funneled directly into research. At our International Convention in 2006, DPhiE teamed up with the foundation to create Tate's Totes, which are gift bags for families with children suffering from Cystic Fibrosis.

For more information about the foundation and how you may contribute to the cause through making gifts towards medical research and care for Cystic Fibrosis patients , please visit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation website.
